Green Toe, friendly footwear

Simple Shoes shoe company has a line of footwear called Green Toe that are made from natural and recycled materials. Made from cotton, a natural rubber called crepe, sheep's wool, biodegradeable Jute fibers, bamboo and water based glue. The soles of the shoes are even made of recycled tires.

Green Toe also makes equally friendly bags and tees. The bags are made with recycled plastic bottles in their zippers and organic cotton.

Nice work. I didn't know just a choice of clothes could make you more environmentally friendly!

That's pretty cool but like many environmentally friendly products, they're a bit pricey for the average buyer. Not terrible though. Too bad we can't get Wal Mart to discount them and give them a more general appeal. I think that's one of the big problems (probably the biggest) with any environmental issue -- creating a financially attractive environmental alternative. It's a problem in the US where most people won't buy environmental if there is a cheaper alternative but it's even worse in countries where practices which destroy the environment are a matter of life or death.

Wow -- see how I can ramble on when I can TYPE my comments. And you can read them too!

That is so cool that you can buy environmentally friendly apparel and accessories!! Are these only available if you order them, or can you buy them in stores?? Mr Aldape always goes on and on about how we should take care of the environment. I should start trying to make strides to help it myself :)
